Experience of working in a science, manufacturing or engineering background would be useful but isn’t essential.

Main purpose of the job: To manage conference logistics, marketing and sales, ensuring the delivery of well-run, high-quality and profitable events that exceed the expectations of delegates, sponsors, exhibitors.

Clients don’t want really to pay recruitment fees; never have, never will! Over the last 26 years, I’ve heard “we don’t have the budget to work with recruiters; you’re too expensive” thousands of times. However, there is huge benefit to be had from the services, expertise and network of good recruiters.

The reason recruiters charge what are considered high fees is because of the huge amount of work that happens every day to establish the database, get to know the right people and develop the relationships. There’s also the outlay on advertising, marketing, social media and networking to ensure we are front of mind when clients are recruiting, and when candidates are looking for a new role. And of course all the costs of just running a business. Now you’ll say that that is no different to any other company, and of course it’s not! But the difference is that many clients still expect to pay a recruiter only when the candidate starts work; in other words on a commission only basis. There are not many companies out there who sell goods or services on a commission only basis, how would that even work?! Everyone has to pay their service providers (accountant, lawyer, IT support company, telecoms, freelancers), everyone has to pay for their products, and every business has to pay their staff!

So, we’ve been thinking about this for a long time and talking to clients and colleagues in the industry (and candidates) about what would be more effective and financially acceptable for all concerned. We’ve come up with some alternatives ways of working with us for clients where the percentage fee doesn’t apply, no catch! The clients who have used the service so far have loved it!

You will have a superb portfolio of relevant examples of your creative work and be a confident and collaborative communicator. You will be comfortable presenting ideas directly to clients and act in a pro-active way when coming up with new concepts.

Heavyweight thinking and stunning designs will form part of your working day, as will mentoring and guiding less experienced members of this brilliant creative team where necessary. The Role

An experienced & technically capable product designer to manage all aspects of the product development process from idea generation through to production.

The customers include major multiple retailers, national & regional builder’s merchants and a nationwide network of independent showrooms.

Products are manufactured to our clients’ own in-house designs and specifications from sources all over the world.

The Applicant

The products within this category generally incorporate electronics components so experience of the integration of electric componentry is vital. A qualified product designer with CAD skills. They operate latest versions of SolidWorks & will require either a good understanding of this or compatible software.

To be considered you should have more than 5 years product development experience, in an appropriately related industry.

And a good understanding of relevant manufacturing processes and materials.

A flair for & interest in the design of consumer products.

Suppliers are based mostly in Europe and the Far East. The position will require some overseas travel in visiting these suppliers and appropriate exhibitions. Prior experience of dealing with overseas manufacturing is important.

Hands-on approach to product development with good practical skills.

Our client is seeking a superb Artworker to join their award winning, creative agency located near Bath. You will be joining a busy design studio, working across big brands in a fast paced environment and will need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated and ready to improve your skills to get exceptional results.

As a confident, highly conscientious professional you will have exceptional communication skills, be adaptable and able to work under pressure to get the job done. You will be working with the Creative and Account teams as part of your daily routing so being a team player will be part of your remit.

You will have the ability to work across different formats and your typographical and layout skills will come into play as an essential part of this Creative Artworker. It would be advantageous to have experience in shopper marketing and/or point of sale and be adept at producing high quality artwork with your attention to detail being second to none. On a daily basis you will be dealing with the production of brand activation and point of sale projects. Preparing design and artwork files to a digital reprographic standard ready for print is another vital part of the process. It would be a bonus if you have branding and packaging experience.

You will have skills in producing internal mock-ups for pre-production and will be completely accurate in your proof reading. It would be a benefit if you also have experience of retouching/visualising techniques.
